Hauling out of Montreal since 2008.
We started with one truck, a shared dock and a short list of shippers who needed pallets moved without paying for a whole trailer. That is still the job.
How it started
City Logistics opened in 2008 in Montreal's southwest, working the routes our founders already knew from years of driving them. The first customers were small manufacturers who had the same complaint: their shipments were too big for a courier and too small for a full trailer, and the big carriers treated them accordingly.
So we built the company around partial loads. We consolidate freight at our own dock, fill the trailer properly, and run fixed schedules on the lanes that matter most to Montreal shippers. Customers get truckload-style attention on a shipment of four skids.
Nearly two decades later the fleet is bigger and the lanes reach further, but the way we work has not changed. You get a dispatcher by name, a phone number that a person picks up, and a straight answer when something goes sideways on the road.
The road so far
One truck, one lane
City Logistics is founded in Montreal, running local deliveries and a single overnight lane to Toronto.
Our own dock
We move into a cross-dock facility so partial loads can be consolidated in-house instead of interlined out.
Scheduled LTL across Quebec and Ontario
Fixed weekly departures replace ad-hoc runs, so shippers can plan around our schedule instead of the other way around.
Cross-border service
Regular runs into the US Northeast, with customs paperwork handled alongside the booking.
Still a phone call away
A larger fleet, more lanes, and the same dispatch desk answering the phone in English and French.
How we work
Three commitments we hold ourselves to on every load, whether it is four skids or forty-four.
-
Quote what you will actually pay
Accessorials, wait time and tailgate service are priced up front. If a charge appears on the invoice, it was on the quote.
-
Tell you early, not late
Weather, a border delay, a receiver that will not take the load: you hear about it when we do, not when the delivery is already missed.
-
Treat the freight like the customer is watching
Loads are blocked and braced properly, photographed at pickup, and signed for at delivery.
